Sample Originals Check report
Sample report for the example on winphoto.io/tools/originals-check. WinPhoto made it in a browser on 28 October 2026 from a CC0 sample RAW (Canon EOS R5, raw.pixls.us, taken in 2021) and a photo WinPhoto edited from it; “your RAW” and “your photo” below mean those two files. Because the RAW was taken in 2021, the capture-date rule below is not met. The camera serial number is shortened here. A report you make yourself is made in your browser: WinPhoto receives neither of your files and keeps no copy of the report. See the areas that differ
This report is not a certificate. It records what the check compared, what it found and its limits. Only the organiser decides whether an entry meets its rules.

Reference used
Compared with the sensor data in your RAW, decoded in your browser at 2,544 × 1,696 px, and compared with your photo at 1,600 px on the long edge.
Photo and RAW
- Your photo keeps 82% of the RAW frame.
- It is rotated 1.4° clockwise.
Areas that differ
The check marked 1 area where your photo differs from the RAW beyond tone and colour. A mark can be the edge or one part of a larger change, so compare the area around it with your RAW. An edit the contest allows, such as a lens correction, a black-and-white conversion or strong local contrast, can show up too; the contest's rules say which edits are allowed. A marked area is something to look at, not a finding of cheating.
Changes smaller than about 40 × 40 pixels of your photo are unlikely to show.
| Area | Position in the photo |
|---|---|
| 1 | 4.2–15% across, 80–90% down |
A draft description of your edits
A draft from this comparison, for you to correct and complete before you use it. It lists only what the check measured and can miss changes. Some contests, such as Sony World Photography Awards, ask you to describe your edits when you enter.
Edits to this photo, compared with my RAW file IMG_4692.CR3: Cropped to about 82% of the original frame. Straightened by 1.4°. Local changes in 1 area: 4.2–15% across, 80–90% down. [Describe what you changed there.] [Add tone, colour and any retouching the check can't see, such as dust spots.]

AI-generated images: For you to check
The organiser's words:
“all Entries must originally be from either an analogue or digital photograph which may have then been manipulated. Computer generated content cannot be the origin of the Entry.”
Source: www.worldphoto.org, checked 11 Oct 2026
The check can't tell how an image was made. It marked 1 area that differs from your RAW; compare it with your RAW against this rule.
Original or RAW files: For you to check
Our summary (we don't hold the organiser's exact words yet):
Manipulation permitted but its extent must be described when submitting; the origin must be an analogue or digital photograph (no computer-generated origin). The original photograph and image file may be requested to verify.
Read the rule: https://www.worldphoto.org/sony-world-photography-awards
This check read a CR3 file for this photo. Keep it: if the organiser asks for it, send what it asks for, the way it asks.
Capture date: Not met
The organiser's words:
“Images must be taken in 2026”
Source: www.worldphoto.org, checked 11 Oct 2026

Limits
- It compares your photo with your RAW at about 1,600 pixels on the long edge. Small retouching, such as removing dust spots, is almost never marked. In our tests, none of 18 spot removals was.
- It is built to ignore changes in tone, colour, contrast, sharpening and noise reduction. Strong clarity, black-and-white conversions, lens corrections and colour fringing along strong edges can still show up as areas.
- A replaced sky, or an object removed from sky, water or a plain wall, is often marked only at its edges or not at all, and so are thin objects such as wires, poles or cranes. A mark can be the edge or one part of a larger change, so compare the area around each mark with your RAW.
- An HDR, panorama or focus stack uses several RAWs; areas from the other frames show as differences.
- It reads the camera details your files carry. Those details can be edited, so they show what the files say.
- It doesn't recognise faces, and it doesn't judge your photograph.
- It is a self-check that compares two files. A marked area is something to look at, not a finding of cheating, and only the organiser decides whether your entry meets its rules.
