Past winners — text notes
Hasselblad Masters skew toward fine-art photographers with strong personal vision and craft — not photojournalists. Recent winners (every two years prior to 2024 annualization) include working commercial portraitists, landscape artists, and conceptual photographers. The €5,000 cash is modest; the Hasselblad equipment kit (X2D II 100C + two XCD lenses, retail ~€20,000) and the 'Master' title are career-defining. Distinct from journalistic awards — favors print quality, large-format consideration, and singular images over series.
These are text-only curatorial observations, never images of past winners.
Prizes
One winner per category (7 winners total). Each winner receives: Hasselblad 'Master' title; Hasselblad X2D II 100C medium-format camera + two XCD-series lenses of their choice (retail ~€20,000); €5,000 creative fund; inclusion in the Hasselblad Masters Photography Book. Total individual prize value ≈ €25,000+.
