Questions photographers ask.

Honest answers, in plain English. Anything not covered here, write to hello@winphoto.io.

Will using your analysis disqualify me from the competition?

No. We analyze your photograph; we don't edit it. The original file you submit is unchanged. The disqualification risk some competitions flag (WPP, Sony, HIPA) concerns generative editing — which we don't do.

For top-tier competitions where any AI-curated selection could be challenged under "author every curatorial choice" rules, we flag that explicitly on the competition page. The decision to enter stays yours.

Does a strong verdict mean my photo is safe from being flagged or disqualified?

No — and this distinction matters. WinPhoto reads the rulebook: it tells you which competition your photo fits and which specific rule is the landmine for your frame — the eligibility window, the edit limits, the AI-disclosure clause. That's the read you're paying for.

It does not do forensic authenticity analysis. We don't inspect RAW files or metadata, we don't read C2PA provenance, and we don't run AI-detection like SynthID. So a "Strong submit" is a rules-fit and craft read — never a forensic clearance. If a competition runs its own authenticity check, that's between you and the organiser. Treat our verdict as "this is the right contest, and here's the rule to watch," not "you're guaranteed safe."

Do you train AI models on my photo?

No. Our private EU AI infrastructure runs in the Ireland region under Zero Data Retention terms. Your photo is analyzed in-memory and discarded when the browser session ends. We don't keep it. We don't learn from it. Full sub-processor disclosure is in our privacy policy.

Separately: industry-mandatory CSAM classifiers run upstream of every commercial vision model. False positives may be retained by the upstream provider for review.

Do you submit on my behalf?

No. Never. We produce a ranked shortlist; you submit through each competition's own website or portal. Top-tier competition rules require the entrant to author every curatorial choice — automating submission would breach that rule.

If you want hands-off submission, you're looking at a different product than ours. We're deliberately not building that.

What if my photo doesn't match anything strongly?

You get an honest short or empty shortlist with reasoning. Some photos aren't ready for submission at a given moment; some are a better fit for competitions we haven't added yet. We'd rather tell you that than pad the list with bad fits to make you submit and lose your entry fees.

Which competitions do you cover right now?

23 active competitions across 140 categories, spanning prestige (HIPA), regional (Tasweer, Maghreb Photography Awards), conservation (Mangrove Photography Awards), and specialty (Nikon Comedy Wildlife) tiers.

We add competitions weekly. The index is curated — we prioritize competitions with verified rules, transparent judging criteria, and published juror credentials over pay-to-play "awards."

How much data do you keep about me?

None tied to you. We keep anonymous aggregate counters (how many analyses ran today, not by whom) for capacity planning. No account, no email on file, no identification, no tracking cookies beyond a session cookie that expires when you close the browser.

If you use the free tier, we count analyses against an IP-hashed monthly quota — the hash is one-way, not reversible, and rotates every 30 days.
