      Questions

      What happens to transparency?
PNG and WebP keep it. JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white, or with black if you choose it.
Does converting a JPG to PNG improve it?
No. PNG keeps every pixel exactly, so the copy looks the same as the JPG, but detail lost to JPG compression does not come back, and the file is usually several times larger.
      Is WebP smaller than JPG?
Usually, at a similar quality. Most browsers and many apps open WebP, but some older software and upload forms only take JPG or PNG. If your browser can't save WebP, the option is turned off.
      Is the metadata kept?
No. Each copy carries no EXIF or GPS data, and its colours are saved as sRGB.
      Is my photo uploaded?
No. The tool runs in your browser: the photo is read and changed on your device and is never sent to WinPhoto or anyone else.
