Split a panorama into a seamless carousel
Choose a wide photo and a tile shape. The tool cuts it into tiles that meet edge to edge as people swipe through the carousel.
Your photo stays on your device: nothing is uploaded.
Split a panorama into tiles
Post the tiles in order, tile 1 first, in one carousel. They carry no EXIF or GPS data, and their colours are saved as sRGB.
How to use it
- Choose 4:5 tiles, which stand taller in the feed, or square tiles.
- Choose your photo, or drop it on the box. The number of tiles follows its shape; you can change it.
- If part of the photo is cut off, move the crop to keep what matters, then make the tiles.
- Download the tiles one by one or in a zip, and post them in order, tile 1 first, in one carousel. On a phone you can also press and hold a tile to save it.
Questions
- How many tiles will my panorama make?
- As many as fit its shape. A 4:5 tile is 0.8 times as wide as it is tall, so a photo four times as wide as it is tall makes five 4:5 tiles, or four square ones. You can choose from 2 to 10, and the page shows any part that is cut off.
- Why do the tiles line up?
- They are cut side by side from one resized copy of the photo, with no gap or overlap, so the edge of each tile carries on into the next.
- What size are the tiles?
- 1,080 × 1,350 pixels for 4:5 and 1,080 × 1,080 for square, saved as JPEG at quality 92 of 100. A photo with fewer pixels than the tiles need is enlarged, which can soften it.
- How do I post them?
- Start a new post, select several photos, and pick the tiles in order from tile 1, without cropping them.
- Is my photo uploaded?
- No. The tool runs in your browser: the photo is read and changed on your device and is never sent to WinPhoto or anyone else.
