Questions
- Why does Instagram crop my photo?
- A photo much taller or wider than Instagram's frames is cropped when you post it: a 2:3 portrait, for example, loses part of its top and bottom. Fitting it into a 4:5 frame with a border keeps all of it.
- What sizes does the tool make?
- 1,080 pixels wide, the width Instagram shows: 1,080 × 1,350 for 4:5, 1,080 × 1,080 for square, 1,080 × 566 for 1.91:1 and 1,080 × 1,920 for stories and reels (9:16).
- What does the blurred border do?
- It fills the space around your photo with a soft, blurred copy of the same photo, so the border carries its colours instead of plain white or black.
- How is the copy saved?
- As a JPEG at quality 92 of 100, in sRGB and without EXIF or GPS data. Instagram compresses every upload again. A photo smaller than the space it fills is enlarged, which can soften it.
- Is my photo uploaded?
- No. The tool runs in your browser: the photo is read and changed on your device and is never sent to WinPhoto or anyone else.
